LG Electronics has announced an ambitious plan to supply its Automotive webOS Content Platform (ACP) to 20 million vehicles by 2030, signaling its intent to become a global leader in the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) era. Speaking at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Eun Seok Hyun, Head of LG’s Vehicle Solutions Business Division, highlighted that LG’s deep expertise in consumer electronics, displays, and connectivity solutions uniquely positions it to transform the in-car experience. The company envisions vehicles evolving into “wheel-based living spaces,” where entertainment, communication, and productivity blend seamlessly within the cabin.

At its conference titled Redefining In-Vehicle Experience: Why the Content Ecosystem Matters, LG outlined how its Automotive webOS platform aims to redefine mobility through content-rich, user-centric environments. Built upon webOS—the same technology powering over 240 million LG smart TVs—the ACP brings home entertainment quality into vehicles. Eun emphasized that LG’s strategy centers on expanding its partnerships with content providers to create scalable service ecosystems tailored to individual lifestyles. Joining him at the event were leaders from Microsoft’s Xbox division and Zoom, who discussed the growing importance of content and connectivity in the SDV market.

LG’s latest collaborations with Xbox and Zoom exemplify its push toward “connected comfort.” Through Xbox Game Pass integration, drivers and passengers will be able to stream titles like Doom Eternal and Forza Horizon 5 directly within their vehicles. Meanwhile, the addition of Zoom as a native app transforms car cabins into mobile offices, enabling users to participate in video conferences and manage work tasks while on the move. Together, these partnerships reflect LG’s mission to merge entertainment and productivity, creating a next-generation automotive experience that’s as connected as the modern home.
