RENAULT GROUP TO LAUNCH SEVEN NEW MODELS THIS YEAR AFTER GLOBAL SALES ROSE

Renault said it plans to launch seven new models this year after global sales increased in 2024.

The French car maker said Thursday that global sales rose 1.3% on year to 2.26 million vehicles across the group’s brands, boosted by new car launches through the year and as customers bought an increasing number of hybrid and electric vehicles.

In its main market of Europe, sales increased by 3.5% and Renault said its group order book in the region represented around two months of projected sales at the end of December.

Electrified models are making up a larger portion of overall sales and the company is planning to launch several new models in 2025 to boost its electric-car sales in Europe.

It will also give a facelift to two existing models this year, it said.

Automakers including Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have all reported falling car sales in 2024 as they faced challenges in China where a price war intensified and domestic consumers began shying away from western brands in favor of local manufacturers.

Renault mainly sells its cars in Europe though and has been sheltered from the market turmoil in China as it doesn’t sell cars in the country.
