CRASH TEST GONE VIRAL: THE MG S6 EV WASN’T SUPPOSED TO DEBUT THIS WAY—THE TEST JUST MADE IT FAMOUS

The new MG S6 EV has just made a surprising debut—and not through a glitzy auto show. Instead, it broke cover via a series of Euro NCAP crash test photos, offering a not-so-polished but undeniably detailed first look. Both two-wheel and four-wheel-drive versions are confirmed, and the safety results speak for themselves: 92% for adult occupants and 85% for children—numbers that put it among the safest newcomers in its class.

It’s rare for a car to get unintentionally “revealed” through a safety test, but that’s exactly how the S6 EV entered the spotlight. While the images show a post-crash version of the SUV, you can still make out its confident lines and muscular proportions. MG seems to have nailed a modern, athletic look that should resonate with buyers who want style without shouting.

The S6’s front design borrows cues from its smaller sibling, the S5, with a split grille set low on the bumper and slim LED daytime running lights that sit above triangular headlamp clusters. From behind, it’s just as sharp—a full-width light bar reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz EQA, blacked-out bumpers, and a sculpted diffuser that give it a touch of performance flair.

Inside, the glimpses captured from the crash test footage reveal a surprisingly premium setup. Between the chaos of deployed airbags, you can spot a flat-bottom steering wheel, a massive infotainment display dominating the center console, and a head-up display positioned above the dash. Even in grainy crash footage, the cabin exudes a mix of technology and refinement that hints at MG’s growing confidence as a global player.

Safety, of course, is where the S6 EV truly flexes its muscle. It earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating, with stellar protection scores across the board: 92% for adults, 85% for kids, 84% for pedestrians, and 78% for safety assist systems. Although details on the powertrain remain under wraps, experts expect a setup similar to the S5—a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive layout delivering 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, with an optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive version offering more punch. MG says the official reveal is coming in late November, and after this accidental debut, car enthusiasts will be watching closely to see just how much polish this electric SUV packs when it’s finally shown in its best light.
