THE COOLEST FUTURE EVS ARRIVING IN 2025 AND BEYOND

Every year, we have a new slate of EVs arriving that aim to reinvent what an automobile is with advanced new features, impressive performance, and exciting new designs. Automakers aren't just adding batteries and an electric motor to existing models (anymore), they're creating bold new platforms that make the most of this new technology and even complement existing combustion powertrains for ultimate flexibility.

Unfortunately, innovation like this doesn't happen overnight. The platforms are years in the making, full of advanced electrical components that are unfamiliar to many automakers, leading to delays and postponed targets. Vehicles that were once supposed to come out in 2024 are now coming out in 2026, and vehicles that were supposed to come out in 2026 have been pushed even further. Even new reveals are expected to arrive toward the end of the decade, so in preparation, we wanted to take a look at 10 of the most exciting EVs planned to arrive in 2025 and beyond.

For this article, we only focused on EVs we know are heading into production. Some of them are concepts, and we haven't seen the final product yet, but all of them have something to be excited about. We arranged this list according to how excited we are to drive each model.

Volkswagens GTI EV is reinventing the beloved hot hatch in an all-electric form as the company aims for 80% electric sales in Europe by 2030. Yes, the iconic combustion vehicle is skipping the gas and heading straight for the kilowatts, but the company promises that the model will be even better to drive than the current GTI. The focus is going to be on the driving experience, offering a chassis and suspension setup that's much better than the current model. It keeps the FWD configuration and a front-axle differential, but it will also boast extreme customization that will help it mimic famous GTIs of the past. Will the ID.GTI live up to expectations? Only time will tell.

Genesis' rise in the car market needs to be studied because this company hasn't missed ever since it first entered the scene a decade ago. Already showing the company has the luxury combustion game down pat, it ventured into the luxury EV game with vehicles like the GV70, but no one was ready for the Genesis X concepts. A coupe, a convertible, and a sports car were all unveiled, but only the convertible has been confirmed for production so far.

This ultra-luxury roadster promises impressive performance and comfort in a highly advanced package, and you'll pay dearly for it, as it aims for a $200,000 to $300,000 price thanks to a highly limited production run. All we can say is, if this is what the future of EVs looks like, sign us up.

You can't talk about future electric vehicles without talking about the Tesla Roadster. First announced in 2017, the company's first real successor has been M.I.A. ever since, marred by delays and false promises. Despite these problems, if it can deliver on the performance promises it's made, it will still be one of the most impressive vehicles in the world, just not as impressive as it would have been if it arrived when the company said it was going to in 2020. 620 miles of range, over 1,000 horsepower, and a 0-60 mph sprint of less than 2 seconds are all absurd, just not as absurd as they once were thanks to companies like Rimac and Koenigsegg. With the car now delayed even further thanks to the Robotaxi, who knows when we'll ever see it in action?

Rivian recently unveiled the R2 crossover, which will slot in under the R1S and finally give the company a cheaper vehicle, but at the same event, it also unveiled the R3, and that model immediately stole the show. With tiny, retro proportions reminiscent of a Lancia Delta, the car looks extremely sleek, but it looks even better in the off-road-oriented R3X trim, which appears to feature off-road tires, a slight lift, and a different rear wing, among other changes. It immediately stole our hearts and looks near production-ready, but unfortunately, the model isn't set to arrive until at least 2027, which seems pretty far away if you ask us.

Lamborghinis Lanzador is set to be the brand's first electric model, and for better or worse, it's going to be a high-performance crossover, or "Ultra GT" as Lamborghini likes to call it. The looks are sharp with almost sedan-like proportions that have been raised up substantially for improved ground clearance and to fit those massive wheels. It's good-looking, no doubt, and on the inside, it will have 2+2 seating and a wild layout that you need to see to understand, as it features a cockpit-like seating arrangement for the driver and front passenger. Performance will be impressive, with the company claiming over a megawatt of power, but range and top speed haven't been announced. We expect it to impress when it arrives and hope the company gives it a sound worthy of a Lamborghini.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia has been an incredible model for the brand, combining performance with classic Italian style in a package that continues to age gracefully. Unfortunately, time comes for us all, and the sport sedan is no different, as the company is planning an electric successor that will boast nearly 1,000 horsepower. It will sit on the STLA Large platform along with the upcoming Dodge Charger, meaning that the model could also be modified to use combustion powertrains as well. Thanks to this platform, 800-volt architecture will be used, and a range of about 400 miles is expected. As far as looks and other technology go, that's all still up in the air, but we're excited to see how the company pushes its design further into its electric future.

When Volkswagen announced it was reviving the Scout name, nobody knew what to think. This was an iconic, albeit somewhat obscure, American off-road brand. What would a German company know about bringing it back to life? It turns out, quite a lot, as the unveiled Scout Terra and Traveler EVs are just about everything you want in an off-road EV. They'll come with either 33 or 35-inch tires, allowing for up to 12 inches of ground clearance and three feet of water fording.

Torque from the dual motors will come out to a max of 1,000 lb-ft, which gives the massive vehicles fast acceleration times and a healthy amount of towing power. Of course, the range is respectable at 350 miles, but with the added combustion range extender, these machines will be genuine options for off-road enthusiasts everywhere. It's just too bad we have to wait so long for them to arrive.

Polestar is one of those brands that has somehow managed to enter the spotlight yet remain under the radar at the same time. See one on the road and the only people that will really know what it is are enthusiasts, but its slate of vehicles continues to grow at an impressive pace. However, the most anticipated model on the way has to be the Polestar 6. This incredible roadster first debuted in 2022, boasting dual-motor performance of over 800 horsepower, gorgeous looks, and overall performance benchmarked against the Porsche 911. The company even unveiled a higher-performance BST version at Goodwood this year, which looks like it will try to capture some lap records. While originally expected to be highly limited, it's believed the company will likely expand production beyond the initial 500 units if the interest is there, and it looks like the interest is there.

Porsches Mission X may just be the most incredible car announced last year, as it will arrive ready to break production car records around the world. The successor to the 918, the model is only a mere 47 inches tall, features Le-Mans-style doors, and a cockpit full of cameras that allow you to record your record-setting lap times from multiple angles. Performance hasn't been confirmed just yet, but we do know it will have quad motors, a transmission or simulated shift points, and a "weight ratio of roughly 0.99 hp to every 2.2 lbs of weight". It will utilize a 900-volt architecture, which should make charging a breeze, but don't expect range to be its strong suit, as the company aims to achieve ultimate performance. A release date hasn't been confirmed, so it's possible it could arrive sooner than 2028 if production progresses ahead of schedule.

Chrysler is currently in a bad spot, as the brand only offers one model to the public, the Pacifica minivan. It debuted the Airflow concept a year ago as the brand's first EV, which seemed like a basic, albeit nice electric crossover. That design has now evolved and morphed into something much more bold, that aims to reignite the passion the Chrysler brand once had. Called the Halcyon concept, it's based on the STLA Large platform and will make use of an 800-volt architecture.

Its design is a mix between a sports car, a fastback, and a hatchback, and it has some of the most interesting doors we've ever seen. The focus is on the future with the model, so it features 95% sustainable equipment for the interior, wireless charging capability, and supposedly Level 4 autonomous driving capability. How much of this will make it to the production model is yet to be seen, but it's the first Chrysler model in a long time that truly makes us excited about the brand's direction.
