In case you don't know, there's a new Lexus/Toyota supercar on the way.
We've heard it run up the Goodwood Hill Climb in all its alleged twin-turbocharged V8 goodness. We've seen a concept of the new car, with the Lexus Sport Concept shown at Monterey Car Week.
Now, we see the first teaser image of the actual car.
A new billboard has surfaced at the uphill stretch of Fuji Speedway, just ahead of this weekend's Super Formula race, Japan's premier open-wheel racing series. The billboard features close-up headlight shots of the Toyota 2000GT, the Lexus LFA, and the mysterious new car. This should give everyone the sort of lofty ambitions Toyota/Lexus has for the new supercar, displaying it alongside arguably the brand's two most iconic cars of all time.
The images surfaced on Toyota's Japanese public relations X (Twitter) account last night, along with the latest entry from a 24-day countdown on the brand's global site. That global PR site has been posting cryptic messages since September 19th, starting with a roughly translated message "This site is open today. I will update the messages I write here everyday".
Today's message stated:
The sign at Fuji Speedway has changed
On the left is the 2000GT
Next to it is the LFA
And next to that is…?
The good news for all of us who can't wait to see the new car, today's message is number 3 in the countdown. There are just two more days of teaser images/messages left, and then on October 13th (Monday) the car will likely be unveiled.
We can't wait!
