Clean sticky car radio buttons DIY and selling an Audi R8 for a Miata - Paul's car story
To stay safe during quarantine, I've been focusing on making videos with my 2012 MK6 GTI and 2004 Cayenne Turbo. I discovered a useful trick for cleaning the sticky radio knobs and dials in the Cayenne, which is a common issue in older Ferraris as well, due to sun exposure over the years. The buttons in Ferraris are not as easy to remove, though. Thanks to @HooviesGarage for inspiring me to buy my first Porsche. Paul, whom I met when he had the first dual-clutch Audi R8 in the USA with an S-Tronic transmission, recently bought a 4th generation Club Edition 6-speed MX-5, known as a Mazda Miata ND. This was to replace his stunning V10-powered R8 with a dual-clutch. His latest acquisition is a 991.1 Porsche GT3RS. In a remote interview, Paul explained his past cars and his decision to choose the Miata over a BMW M4 convertible and Bentley Continental GTC while searching for a replacement for his Audi R8 V10 Plus. I, Ben, currently own a 1991 BRG Limited Edition Miata, and before that, a classic red 1995 Miata was my weekend car, alongside my MK6 GTI DSG and Mini Cooper S 6-speed. I built 10 bumper cars - and they're street legal
A FAMILY has become used to turning heads while driving their fleet of 10 bumper cars on California’s roads. In this week’s episode, vehicles are taken from the amusement park to the open roads. But Tom Wright, a builder, hadn't planned on taking the first fairground ride he worked on to the streets. He told us: “The purpose at the time was to restore it to its original lustre and put it in a showroom.” However, before finishing the project he decided that he also wanted the cars to be mobile. So, Tom used his engineering skills to move them onto the open road. He explained: “I decided to convert it to a six-speed Kawasaki 550cc motor.” Making these historic vehicles roadworthy was a challenge for him, some having been out of use for 80 years. “They were sitting outside riddled with rust, 18 inches on some of the cars and had to be cut off," Tom said. The bumper cars have also been added with some special features, such as wood exteriors to reflect the area they drive through. “The wheels are custom golf cart wheels because this is a California beach community," he said. Acquiring the first car, finding the right components, making the frames and sending the bodies for paint took a year to complete. All this hard work was worth it in the end, as they are “extremely fun to drive”. When Tom takes the 10 bumpers for a spin with friends and family they turn the heads of locals. “The smiles, waves and the honks make the hobby worth doing.”

Niel upgraded from a Mini Cooper S to a BMW M2, choosing it over other great options like the M3 and M4 because the M2 was too compelling to pass up. The car was purchased before the M2 CS was unveiled, and its license plate often invites other drivers to race. Niel's M2 is stock, offering an authentic experience of M2 ownership straight from the dealer. If she made modifications, she would consider a Stage 1 tune, smaller wheels, a valved catback exhaust, and possibly a roof wrap, with the toughest choice being between a DCT or manual transmission.
