AUDI’S NOT DONE YET—THIS BOLD NEW ELECTRIC SUV MIGHT JUST FLIP THE SCRIPT

Audi’s turning heads in China again—this time with a brand-new electric SUV hot on the heels of its sleek E5 Sportback. Built under the company’s China-focused electrification brand “AUDI,” this upcoming model promises to deliver the same cutting-edge tech wrapped in a more traditional SUV form. It’s being co-developed with SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) and is expected to hit the market next year, riding on Audi’s Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP) complete with an 800-volt system for lightning-fast charging.

Spy shots out of China are fueling excitement. The test vehicle, wrapped in camouflage, shows off bold, muscular proportions that give it a tougher stance than the E5. The front and rear designs hint at a light bar setup similar to the E5 Sportback, but the higher roofline and chunkier body make it clear this one’s built for presence as much as performance.

Peek closer, and it’s brimming with futuristic flair—roof-mounted LiDAR, flush door handles, and cameras replacing side mirrors, all lending it that next-gen vibe. There’s even a camera tucked into the front fender for advanced vision systems. Out back, a wraparound LED light bar and sporty spoiler tie the look together, making this SUV feel equal parts luxury and sci-fi.

Under the hood—or rather, under the floor—Audi’s not holding back. The lineup’s expected to mirror the E5’s setup: a base 76 kWh battery with 295 hp, a 100 kWh rear-drive variant pushing 402 hp, and an AWD option cranking 518 hp. The crown jewel? A dual-motor beast packing 776 hp, ready to give Tesla and BMW drivers something to sweat over. It’s all part of Audi’s bigger play to grow its electric footprint through AUDI’s China-exclusive lineup, with a third model already on the horizon for 2027.

Make no mistake—China’s EV scene is a battlefield, and Audi’s jumping right into the thick of it. Going up against the likes of Tesla, Mercedes, and BMW, this SUV could be the brand’s turning point in the electric race. If the spy shots are any clue, Audi’s next electric warrior isn’t just coming to compete—it’s coming to dominate.
