A study by iSeeCars found that electric vehicles have significantly higher depreciation rates than gas-powered vehicles on average. EVs had an average 5-year depreciation rate of 49.1%, compared to 38.8% for all vehicle types. Among the EVs tracked that have been out for at least 5 years, the Tesla Model 3 had the best retention at 42.9% depreciation, followed by the Tesla Model X was second best at 49.9%.
