PORSCHE BUILDS GIANT TEXAS HUB TO SPEED UP PARTS DELIVERY

Porsche is one of the most prestigious automakers of all time. The blue-chip German manufacturer is famed the world over for its top-notch quality and legendary sports cars. But even the best need service from time to time, which is why Porsche has just opened a huge parts distribution and training center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Proper Training Is Key

In the automaker’s own words, this new facility is “designed to enhance service efficiency, support dealer operations, and provide advanced training for Porsche technicians across the region.” And that last part is perhaps the most important. These thoroughbred automobiles, like the iconic 911, are expensive and complicated, so they require thoroughly trained staff to properly perform maintenance and fix problems.

This facility will be able to train technicians in all aspects of Porsche repair. Internal-combustion models as well as hybrids and pure EVs will be covered. There are three dedicated classrooms on site as well as a shop with three lifts. Around 800 technicians are expected to be trained at the center each year.

A Logistics Leviathan

This distribution and training center covers more than 300,000 square feet and has 21 full-time employees. They will ensure Porsche dealerships across Texas and the broader region of the U.S. have the parts they need to keep 911s and Cayennes, Macans and Taycans running in tip-top condition.

Interestingly, Porsche has launched a special shuttle network across the country. This is designed to ensure their parts are delivered safely to dealers, so less damage is caused along the way, something that can be an issue with third-party carriers.

This new facility in Texas “allows us to deliver parts faster and more efficiently, while also creating meaningful jobs and economic impact in the region,” said Brad Skoff, the president of Porsche Logistics Services in a media release. “The Fort Worth Parts Center is a major milestone in our logistics strategy,” the leader added.
